Inspired by Challenge...Inspired by Windows

I haven't played in a challenge in awhile and decided it was time to carve out some time to do so. When I saw this cue at theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com, I knew I had to play. Luckily for me, I was on spring break from work, so no excuses. Check out the cue:




This cue reminds me a lot of the stamp I used for this challenge.  The stamp I used is called, at the window, by Carabelle stamps.  This stamp is huge, approx. 5" x 7.5". The sentiment stamp is Unity from hello new life. Card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, March 2019, Creativity

Here is my interpretation:

Initially I wanted to try a new to me technique. I have never created a galaxy background before and I thought I would give that a go. Then I remembered I had these galvanized tin planters waiting to be loved. I love taking plain surfaces and making them pretty. Well things did not turn out like I hoped here. I'm pleased with how the first two turned out, but the third one, the one with the terracotta colored container is a hot mess. Talk about smudging. Epic fail, but I still wanted to paint it and share it with you all. My post would not be complete without it.

Here are the steps in altering these planters. First, each surface was prepped with two coats of heavy white gesso. Then I stamped the succulent from Succulent Greetings. This stamp is gorgeous. So glad I bought it. I simply placed the stamp directly on the planter and rubbed several times to get a good impression. I then used Folk Art paints, Prima paints, and Art Anthology paints for color. I'm glad I tried this, but next time, this stamp is going on some cards. Lol
