Friends with Flair...July 24.2015

Hello Everyone!  Today I am sharing a project using one of my favorite sentiment stamps.  It is by Unity Stamp Co. and Donna Downey.  It is called Beautiful Place, Clear Head.  For me, a beautiful place is anywhere with water.  Whenever I visit a beach, my soul is restored.  I can always clear my head at the beach.  This project is my first attempt at wood pallet art.  Let me know what you think. I really enjoyed putting this together.  Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week-end!

Friends With Flair...July 3, 2015

Hey Everyone and Happy 4th to my USA peeps!  Today I am sharing a card I created for a very special friend.  This card is being entered in Friends With Flair over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog.  OK...back to what I was saying about my special friend.  I met Denise at a Stampin' Up event 5 or 6 years ago.  She would regularly send me hand made cards.  I always looked forward to receiving them in the mail.  She is one very artistic lady.  Sadly, I did not always send her a card, but I always kept her in my thoughts.  Then she became ill and she had to stop sending me her beautiful cards.  During her illness, I sent her a card along with some crafty goodies.  This package was sent back to me because I did not have her correct address.  I am thrilled to say that she is well again and back to her artistic ways.  She is even teaching classes at her local Pat Catan's.  This past week-end, I saw her two days in a row...at the Scrapbook Expo on Friday and then at the annual Stampin' Up event on Saturday.  It was such a treat seeing her.  On Friday, she asked me if I would be at the event on Saturday and I told her, "Yes."  She said she had a card for me.  Not only did she bring me the card on Saturday, but she also brought her art journal to share with me.  It was beautiful.  The journal is one of her ongoing classes.  She had the best inspirational sayings in this journal; these were sayings created by her.  I loved all of them.  I promised her that I would mail her a card soon.

I took advantage of the BOGO Sale at Unity this past week-end and ordered two of the Sunday Funday Deal of the Day, one for me, one for Denise.  This deal had two Itty Bittys and one set.  The one Itty Bitty was the Butterfly Birthday Cupcake and the other was Within Beauty.  The set is that's life.  I can't wait to send this little package to her.

So, for this card I used the she is stamp set which is a collaboration between Donna Downey and Unity.  This card is a little different for me, I stepped out of my comfort zone.  I am pleased with how it turned out and I think she is going to appreciate it as well.  The sentiment on the bottom reads, she designed the life she wanted to live.  The sentiment on the side reads, she created the things she wished existed.  I think these two sentiments are so her.  Please check out the pics and I look forward to reading your comments.

Wedding Guest Book

Two posts in one day...get out!  But here I go!  As promised, I said I would share pics of a wedding guest book I had been working on.  Most of the sentiments and images on the altered tags are from Unity Stamp Co.  I wish I was a better photographer to really do this book justice.  I am really pleased with how this book turned out.  Hopefully someone will like it enough and want it for their special day.  For this book, I altered a Fancy Pants Mixed Media Album.  I stamped an image on each lined kraft page and I embellished each pocket page.

Friends with Flair...June 26, 2015

Hello crafting friends,
Today is Friday so you know what that means...Friends with Flair over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog.  Also while you are over there, make sure you check out their sales.  Unity is having their first ever BOGO.  And have you checked out those new releases...they are gorgeous.

Today I am sharing a card I created for a very special customer of mine.  She needed a new home card.  This was my first time creating a new home card.  I get overly excited when I am asked to create something special for someone.  First I looked through all of my Unity kits for stamps relating to a new home.  I found my November 2011 Kit of the Month, take your time.  This kit had the perfect stamps for a new home card.  There was an image of a few houses on a street and a sentiment, home is where you park your heart.  I used both stamps on this card.  I colored the houses in with colored pencils.

My week-end is off to an amazing start; today I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Akron, Ohio, and tomorrow I am participating in a garage sale where I will be selling unwanted craft supplies, only to purchase new ones.  Ha!  I gotta get busty labeling all my stuff.

Have an amazing week-end!

Friends with Flair...June 19, 2015

Hey there Everybody!  I just love altering journals.  I have been busy creating a wedding guest book and this journal I am about to share with you.  I still have a bit to do on the guest book, but when it's complete, I will post it.  This journal actually came together pretty fast.  I created a similar page in the guest book, but with a neutral palette.  For the journal I mixed gesso and Dylusions vibrant turquoise paint.  I applied this mixture to the cover of a black Piccadilly memo book.  I have altered Moleskines before, but never a Piccadilly.  This memo book has a soft, vinyl like cover; has 100 pages and an inner pocket.  It features sewn binding.  These flowers are very large.  The memo book measures 5" x 8".  So now, you get an idea of how large these flowers really are.  Both flowers and the sentiment come from a Unity Stamp Co. set called wild & free.  The pink paint is also Dylusions, bubble gum pink, and the yellow is Dylusions as well, lemon zest.  The flowers and sentiment were stamped in black Staz On ink.  I am entering this notebook in Friends with Flair over on the Unity blog.  Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing week-end.  Here are the pics:

Graduation Pics and Friends with Flair

Hello everybody!  I have been MIA from my blog for a little while; but for good reasons.  Our oldest graduated from high school on May 31!!  So exciting!!  And his party is tomorrow.  Check out the pics of the grad, proud mama, proud papa, and proud brother.  Before you leave check out the table decorations I created for the party.  I used various stamps, but all of the inspiring messages that were stamped, folded and placed in the jar are all Unity, because Unity has the best inspiration stamps around.  I could have stamped inspiring messages forever, because I have accumulated so many (LOL)!  Enjoy and have a fab week-end.  I am also entering my creation into Friends with Flair over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog.  Until next time, keep creating in peace and love...Dawn

P.S.  After the party, I am giving each of the graduates one of these jars.  I thought it was a cool idea!!

Friends with Flair...May 1, 2015

Hello crafty friends!  I hope everyone has had an amazing week!  Sadly, my family experienced a family crisis earlier this week, but we are bouncing back!  I even took time this evening to participate in Unity's Friends with Flair linky challenge.  I did not do this lady the true justice she deserves.  She is a beautiful image.  This tag is a work in progress.  I like the design of the tag and the colors I used, but I guess I did not use enough of the gel medium called Dazzle to resist the spray.  Thus the area around her mouth suffered for lack of a better word.  I tried to fix my mistake, but failed miserably.  I will be recreating this tag, but I still wanted to share it today.  Just my luck, I ran out of manila tags.  I attended the Adventures in Stamping Convention this past Saturday and was introduced to a product line called Art Anthology.  Technique Junkies had a booth at the convention and they offered a free make n take using Art Anthology products.  The design of this tag was inspired by the tag created in their make n take.  She is from the Unity set, beautiful soul.  This is my first time inking her up.  I stamped her in black Staz On ink on a manila tag.  I then used an Art Anthology spray to color her face, neck, and shoulder.  I colored her lips with an Art Anthology sorbet, a gel paint.  I used one of my new Dylusions paints for her eyeshadow.  This product is fabulous as well!  Her hair was colored with two sorbets.  Dazzle, a gel medium, by Art Anthology was applied to her skin.  I then stamped a dream catcher image with sentiment, go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  This is also a Unity stamp and I apologize for not knowing what it is called; I could not find its packaging.  Yes, I keep all of the original packaging for all of my Unity stamps.  Let me know what you think!  These Art Anthology products are fabulous; definitely will be purchasing more.
