Can You Case It #142, A Color Challenge

Welcome back friends!  For the next two weeks at Can You Case It we are having a color challenge.  Thanks Wynne for this stunning color combination.  Check it out right here:

And here is my card:

Wow look at all that sparkle and shine (compliments of Prima and Stampendous products)!  Stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.  Ribbon trim is Stampin' Up and die cut is Sizzix.  I created the background by randomly stamping all over with the same stamp.  Each section was embossed using a silver embossing enamel.  Then I used Blackberry Bliss (Stampin' Up) by way of a wet brush and added more shine with a metallic water color.  The bling I just so happened to stumble upon in one of my drawers; totally forgot I had this.  I had used part of it on some other creation, but had just enough left for this card.  My cards usually don't have a lot of sparkle and shine, but since it's the holidays, I decided to really go for it.  LOL

Let me know what you think.  I really enjoy reading your comments.  Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the rest of the team.  I can't wait to see you what you create as well.

Until next time,
Dawn

Can You Case It #141, A Sketch Challenge

Welcome to this week's challenge!  I just love this sketch.  You can keep it simple or make it elaborate.  Here is this week's inspiration:

                                           http://canyoucaseit.com/?p=3585

And here is my take on the sketch:

I loved this sentiment ever since I first saw it in a kit at unitystampco.com.  It is from their January 2015 Kit of the Month, Magic of Beginnings.  The bottom part of the card was created with the Tim Holtz mesh stencil and Art Anthology paints.  The top half of the card is My Mind's Eye pattern paper that I inked.  The card was finished with three Basic Grey brads and twine.

Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to see your wonderful creations.

Until next time, keep crafting in peace and love,
Dawn

Can You Case It #139, Rainbow of Color Color Challenge

Hello Everyone!  So glad you are here!  This week we are still mixing it up a bit at CYCI with a Rainbow of Color Challenge created by fellow DTM Kayla!  Woohoo Kayla!  Check out this challenge right here:

http://canyoucaseit.com/?p=3413

Here is my card:

All of the stamps used in creating this card are from Unity Stamp Company.  I colored this beautiful feather with my new Metallic Accents (Prima) that arrived in the mail today.  My photography does not do these metallic accents justice.  LOL  They are gorgeous!  I pre-ordered them so I have been waiting on them for some time.  They were worth the wait.  Next, I am going to use them on a journal I plan on altering.  The gold triangle washi is Heidi Swapp and I grunged up the card with some metallic rub on inks.

Thanks for stopping by...until next time my lovelies,
Dawn

Alternative Wedding Guest Book or Retirement Gift for a Librarian?

What should this be?  You tell me!  I don't know.  I think it could be either.  It is a personal choice, really.  Check it out right here:

Personally I thought it would be neat as a guest book for a wedding with a literary theme.  Each guest can leave their well wishes on one of the 100 library cards.  There are also 100 different pockets which provides for plenty of color and interest.  Some cards and pockets have been altered with metal and/or wood trinkets, or paper flowers.

Or give as a gift to a retiring librarian...a librarian would truly appreciate this mini library drawer with its cards and pockets.

So what should this be?  Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,
Dawn

Can You Case It #130, Make a Birthday Card Challenge

Welcome everyone!  So glad you arrived at my blog because I am celebrating birthdays.  Well, not exactly, but the design team members, including myself, over at Can You Case It? are having a birthday card challenge.  Come celebrate with us...here are the graphics:

I just love birthdays...don't you?!  I love celebrating others' birthdays as well as my own.  And I especially love cake and ice-cream and opening up presents.  I also enjoy watching others open their presents.  And children's birthday parties are on a whole other level with themes, live entertainment, animals, treat bags, favors, pinatas, zip lining, trampoline, and go cart venues, etc.  For this challenge I decided to go with a ballerina princess theme.  Here is my card:

I know, it's a little busy, but a lot of little girls like busy.  LOL  For this card I used an older Stampin' Up set to create the doodled background.  It is called Doodle This.  The sentiment is from a fairly new Unity Stamp Co. set called ...so glad you were born.  Pink paper is from GCD and the yellow paper is Pink Paislee.  The flowers are from Michael's.  Well I can't wait to hear your comments.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until next time,
Dawn

Can You Case It #128, A Sketch Challenge

I am so glad that you are visiting my blog.  WELCOME AND I HOPE YOU RETURN!   This week at Can You Case It, we are having a sketch challenge.  I knew right away which stamp I was going to use for the bottom of this card.  It is a stamp I recently purchased from the Great Lakes Megameet this past May 2016 in Novi, Michigan.

Our country has been experiencing some troubling, sad times recently.  The world has been experiencing troubling, sad times as well.  All the violence has taken its toll on me.  I wanted to create an uplifting, inspirational card.  I worry every time my eldest son, sets foot out our door.  I have told him what to do if ever he were to be pulled over.  I just pray that he will be safe.

Check out the inspiration:

The large stamp at the bottom of card is called dragonfly collage (Technique Junkies).  The sentiment stamp is from vintage scripture (Unity Stamp Co).  Archival black ink (Stampin' Up) was used for the collage and the sentiment.  The collage was colored with various dimensional paints and sprays from Art Anthology.  Thanks for taking a look!  Please leave a comment; they really make my day.  I hope to see you again next week.  I hope my card has given you some inspiration.  Until next week,  Dawn
