Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, August 2019, Furry Friends

Hey there friends! I have been waiting impatiently for this hop. I am so excited for this hop. I love my furry friend so much. Her name is Charlee. She is a border collie/lab mix and recently turned 9 years old. She is my best friend, my buddy. I am so grateful she came into my life. I don't know what I would do without her. And I'm pretty sure she feels the same about me...at least she better. Haha! Here is our cue:

I created two cards for this hop. Here is the first.

I want her outfit. She has a serious Bohemian vibe going on. I really need to paper piece more. This technique gives your stamps a whole new twist. It's like playing paper dolls. And I have so much paper, so I really need to utilize this technique more. The girl and her dog along with the sentiment come from the Unity stamp set called, Shari Girl. I love this set. It's a must have if you love dogs. The background was created using a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. It measures 6" x 9". Card is A2 size. Blue circle and her bib overalls were cut from Photoplay paper. I believe her t-shirt was cut from paper from Crate Paper. Prima water color pencils were used for her skin and hair. I used Crayola pencils on the sweet doggie.

Here is card #2. Brace yourself! HaHa!

I tried to warn you! Isn't he the cutest? These glasses just make me chuckle. I like the layout of this card but I feel it needs something else. My oldest son says the same. What do you think? I may add something, I just don't know what. I am stumped. But he still has some serious cute swag going on. This sweet dog and sentiment come from the Unity stamp set called lucky dog. The heart border stamp comes from their April 2019 Sentiment Kit called ...don't give up. The wood eyeglasses are Bo Bunny from many years ago. The paper circle was cut from paper from Studio Calico. I don't remember who made the mini paper bag. I really tried not to use this mini bag, but somehow it just works. Who would've thunked it? I certainly didn't until I added it to the layout. This mini bag is large enough to hold a gift card.

I apologize if I was long winded, but like I said, I'm so excited about this blog hop. There is a prize or two this month, so make sure you comment on all our blogs.

Here is the blog hop order:

  6. Love the paper piecing on the first card and those adorable glasses on the puppy of your second card. As to what you could add --- maybe a few sequins or splatters on the white card front?

  10. Oh! Dawn I love your cards. Very creative. I love the boho overalls, I've got to paper piece more and use some scraps up. And love that background. Your second card is just adorable. I LOVE the glasses and the treat bag would be great for a gift card. Very clever! What to add? I love it as it is...but maybe some colorful ink splatters, nuvo drops, or sequins. Just perfect for our theme. Thanks for the inspiration!

  23. OH MY GOSH!! both cards are just wonderful but that pup with the glasses has me howling with laughter! Love the design as it is, but the only thing I would possibly add would be some Nuvo drops, or enamel drops etc. on the upper right and lower left.

  27. I love both of your cards. Dogs are right up my alley. I have never tried paper piecing before, I am going to have to try that. As far as the second card, maybe add a few footprints or paint spatters on the white space.
