Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, May 2020, My Favorite Angie Girl Or Guy

Well hello friends! So glad you are back, hopping with us this month. So this month we are using our favorite Angie Girl, Guy or both. I only have one guy and so many girls, so it was kind of hard picking just one girl, because, honestly, they are all my favorite. But before I continue, I want to announce the winner of my blog prize from last month's hop. Drum roll please! CARLA HUNDLEY you are the winner of my prize pack. Please email me at lovepaperetc@gmail.com to claim your prize with your address. There was one stamp set in my prize pack, Cuddlebug Koala and some random stamps. Congratulations Carla! We appreciate your support!

Long story short. My plan was to use Forrest Guy on  the first card, but after several attempts (probably ten), I just could not pull it off. The whole layout and I tried several was disproportionate. He just did not look right. I'm thinking if he had legs, he would've worked out. But if someone can make it work, I would love to see. Anyone accept this challenge? If so, I will send you a brand new Unity stamp set, my choice.

Here is the first card:

This is my first time creating a scene. How did I do? I used Prima water soluble oil pastels for most of the coloring. I used Prima water color pencils on the girl. Let me introduce you to Dallas Girl. She exhibits so much strength, don't you think? The truck is from Scout Adventure. The mountain range and sentiment are both from a Whit Kit, Let Your Soul Wander. I really love how this card turned out. Honestly, I didn't think I was going to be able to pull off this scene, but once I changed from Forrest Guy to her it was like it all came together for me.

Now here is my second card using, you guessed it, Forrest guy!

In addition to Forrest Guy, I used Barn Wall for the background and you are my happy place is from the February 2019 Kit of the Month, ridiculously amazing. I used Faber-Castell colored pencils for his shirt and Prima water color pencils for his t-shirt, skin, and hair. I think making guy cards is slowly becoming my favorite thing to do.

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, April 2020, Sketch

Hey everyone! Peep this...our very first sketch! I'm in love! I'm excited for more!

Image may contain: text

I made two cards for this hop. Both are a reflection of these unprecedented times. I hope they bring you comfort. Oh, and check this out. I am having a giveaway. I haven't had a giveaway since November 2019, I believe, so this is very exciting for me and you! Ha! Ha!

Here is my first card:

I love this bull! So fun to color, too! Both the bull and the sentiment are from the Take No Bull set. I love the sentiments in this set. When I was creating this card, I had the radio on like I usually do and in several commercials, people were saying "Stay Strong," in light of the times, so I rolled with it. I used colored pencils with Gamsol on the bull and the clouds. I used a spray ink with water to create the background. I added several enamel dots and two chipboard arrows to finish it off. Don't be surprised if you see more of my cards using this bull on the Unity Show & Tell page. In fact if you have this set, post your creations there. I would love to see them.

Here is my second card:

I was inspired by Shannon Edwards in the creation of this card. You should check out her card using this same sunflower on the Unity site. I love sunflowers and really enjoyed coloring this beauty up with colored pencils and Gamsol. I also used a brown dimensional paint for the center. I love my splatters and dots, but I wish I had not added the gold micro beads.  What do you think? Too much? I think it's too much so I will probably create an identical card minus the beads. LOL. The sunflower comes from shimmer & shine and THIS scripture comes from My Heart Trusts. This scripture is spot on right now. I added the paint splatters first using Prima metallic paints and white gesso. I didn't have any white paint, so I said, "gesso will work." I then stamped the sunflower. It picked up some of the splatters. I then added the sentiment and fabric dots.

And make sure you comment on all of our blogs to be eligible to win some Unity goodness. Here is my blog candy, a stamp set and some random stamps from grab bags. I will announce the winner next month.

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, March 2020, Designer's Choice

Hey there! So excited for this month's hop.

Image may contain: text

Here is my card:

Yup! That's right! Designer's Choice. For this challenge I went with newer stamps, paper piecing, and stenciling. All of these elements made for a great card. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, here. It's just that I think everything used complimented each other perfectly. The woman image is from Bailey Girl. This stamp is huge. If you don't have this set yet in your stash, you should totally get it...just sayin'. I stamped her on 110lb. white card stock and cut her out. I stamped her again on a sheet of pattern paper by Prima. I cut out her hoodie and glued it to stamped image on the white card stock. I stamped 'love' from the same set onto her coffee mug and added water color. I have been saving this pattern paper with the brick wall for just the right project. I guess this it. I thought it would look cool with the Tim Holtz splatters stencil and gold paint. It brings out the gold foiling on her hoodie. I added a paper frame at an angle onto the stenciled paper. I then added a chipboard frame at a different angle. I don't know...I'm currently having a thing with using frames on my creations. I then used foam adhesive on her. I then stamped the sentiment on white card stock. The sentiment is from Indian Blanket. I can't wait to use the other stamps from this set. I think this set is so cool.

A couple of us ladies are having giveaways, so make sure you comment on all of our posts for a chance to win some Unity greatness.

See you next time!

Hugs!

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, February 2020, Monochromatic

Welcome to this month's hop! Is it just me, or did the month of January fly by? I swear Christmas was yesterday. Well hello February! And hello to a new challenge. Oowee, this challenge was hard. I have never made a monochromatic card before. It was a challenge not adding more colors. I so wanted to add yellow to the mix.

Here is the inspiration:

Image may contain: text

And here is my card:

Two different kits were used in this creation. The image is from tangled leaf background and the sentiment is from the November 2019 Kit of the Month, wonder. Tangled leaf background is one of my favorite Unity stamps. I have used it before for sympathy cards. I used an Art Anthology paint on the tangled leaf background. It has a nice shimmer to it. You can kind of see the shimmer in the third photo. This card was completed with twine and an acrylic leaf embellishment.

There are two giveaways this month, so be sure to comment on all our blogs. We love to read all your encouraging words.

Here is the line up:

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, January 2020, Favorite Unity Stamp of 2019

Hey all! Happy New Year! I am so excited to share with you this card to kick off 2020! It's a little different for me; not my style at all. I wanted to try something different; I needed to. I really love how it turned out. Tell me what you think! But first, check out our cue:

Image may contain: text

And my favorite stamp of 2019 was, Make it Happen Girl. I love her; what a wonderful image. I have other favorites from 2019, but she just speaks to me.

Well, what do you think about my psychedelic chick? I paired her with spilled paint, a background stamp, from Brutus Monroe & Unity. I picked up spilled paint in the swap at a very good price. I told myself that I will probably never use it and then I see this image from Make It Happen, Girl. Great combination of kits, don't you think? Here is how I created this card: I stamped spilled paint on white, heavy weight card stock. I painted the swirls with Prima metallic and opal magic paints. If you look closely at picture number three, you can see the opal magic. It's pretty cool, because when it hits the black you get this cool purple shimmer. On white it's a green shimmer. I then flicked paint splatters after the other paint had dried. I had this plain, boring chipboard frame lying around. I decided to add some paint splatters to it. For the girl, I paper pieced her shirt from Prima pattern paper and colored her skin with a Prima water color pencil. I also colored her hair with a Prima water color. So I layered the frame on spilled paint. I used foam adhesive on the girl. I stamped the sentiment, cut it out, and placed it on her bottom half. Finally I added a gold chipboard circle to the upper left of the frame.

Well, I am the last stop in the hop! Thanks for checking out my psychedelic chick. Just in case you want to hop again, here is the hop order:

Now for prize pack #2:

Here is our cue:
No photo description available.

For this card I used two kits, A Christmas Hello, and the October 2019 SMAK kit, all bundled up.

I am so in love with this cabin. I want to be a guest. Who's with me? Well before I go I want to share a wacky crafting story. First of all, my plan was to make two cards for this hop and then this happened. I am preparing my metal hardware to be attached to a khaki die cut circle when whoa, it goes flying. I have no idea where my little metal piece went. It was perfect too. I searched and searched and never found it. Thus I went with what you see here. It's not the 'perfect' one, but it's growing on me. I plan on adding a second card later, so be sure to come back.

Here is the hop list again. Take care and embrace your crafting journey.

Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, November 2019, Giving Thanks

Hello there! I can't believe Thanksgiving is in a few weeks! As I get older, the years go by so much faster. Do you agree? I am thrilled you are here hopping with us. I am so excited to see the new Ang. Mag. Uniquely Unity membership stamps. Who's with me? By the time you read this, they will have been revealed. I'm sure they are AMAZING!

Here is our cue for the month of November:

Image may contain: text

For both of my cards I really went for the sparkle and shine. I mean, what's fall without some sparkle, right?  Here is my first card:

Two kits were used in the creation of this card, barn wall (Brutus Monroe) and Autumn Dream (Graciellie Design). First I stamped barn wall onto kraft cardstock. I then stamped the flower images. The sentiment was stamped last. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to water color the flowers. I don't believe I've ever water colored on kraft before. I definitely like the muted look of it. And for the finishing touch, paint splatters with Unicorn Hair by Prima Marketing Inc.

Here is the second card:

So for this card I stamped the tree on water color paper and cut it out with a wonky line die by Gina Marie. I used a brush to add the various Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I then added paint splatters with more Prima paints, Fairy Wings and Unicorn Hair. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a stitched die by Gina Marie. I placed this over a fall sticker using dimensional tape. The tree is from the September 2018 KOM called Blessed Fall. The sentiment is from Autumn Dream (Graciellie Design).

Next up in the hop is the lovely Robyn Jordan. She is the last stop.
