Can You Case It #105, A Color Challenge

Hello my crafty friends!  I hope you are all well and in crafting mode.  Here are the colors for this week's challenge:

And here is the card I created.  I went for a masculine card.

The heart stamp is from a Unity Stamp Co. KOM from November 2012 called so into you.  I colored in the heart with water and a water brush on a Fired Brick (Ranger) Distress Ink pad.  The sentiment is from love is grand, also from Unity.  It is the December 2015 Sentiment Kit.  This card was finished off with pattern papers from Authentique and Echo Park.  I also added a few Prima metal hardware pieces.

Thanks for visiting; check out the rest of the team; and come play.  Hope to see you at CYCI!

Until next time...keep crafting in peace and love,

Dawn

Can You Case It, #104, A Sketch Challenge

Welcome to this week's edition of Can You Case It?!  I have to say, I really LOVE this sketch!

Here is the card I created:

I normally do not create cards with cute little animals, but I made an exception when I saw this stamp set, Lil' Smartie Pants, from Unity Stamp Co.  I thought he would be adorable on a Valentine's Day card.  The sentiment is from the same set.  I stamped it in Coastal Cabana (Stampin' Up) on white cardstock and attached it to a postage stamp die cut (Crate Paper).  The large doily is from the July 2012 SMAK kit, cre-ate (Unity).  It was also stamped in Coastal Cabana.  Pattern paper is Bo Bunny and solid pink paper is Authentique.  I used Derwent watercolor pencils on the bird image.  Thanks so much for visiting and I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful cards.

Until next time friends...

Growing in Unity, Day #5

Well folks, my run as the GIU girl has come to an end.  I really enjoyed reading all of your comments this week.  You have been so generous...my heart sings, my cup runneth over.  I really feel blessed to be a part of this amazing family.  Thank you so very much.  Today, my card features stamps from, Beautiful is never perfect.  The sentiment I selected from this set is so lovely, full of hope, promise, and happiness.  I used my new Prima oil pastels to color up this beauty.  I also added some chipboard from My Minds Eye.  It has been a joyful ride this week because of you, my Unity Family.

Remember to comment for your chance to win some Unity stamps. Winners will be announced early next week.  Until next time...keep crafting in peace and love.

Growing in Unity, Day #4, First Ever Art Journal Page

Hello Fabulous Friends!  Welcome to Day #4 of Growing in Unity.  I am so happy that you are here, especially today, because I am sharing my very first art journal page.  I'm going to let you in on a little secret...I have had this blank Dyan Reaveley journal for about two years now, never having touching it with any ink.  I had been so apprehensive about doing an art journal.  I don't know why I was so intimidated.  Maybe it's because I've seen Dyan's pages, Dina Wakeley's pages, amongst others and they're fabulous.  No way will mine be as grand as theirs.  But this is not the point, is it?  Art journaling is not a competition.  It's not about comparing.  It's about self-expression.  It's about artistic freedom.  It's a catharsis.  It's not about who's going to like it.  It's yours...it's your journey...not anyone else's.  If you have been hesitant about embarking on your own journey, don't.  It was so freeing, therapeutic, so cleansing.

All of the stamps on this page are by Unity.  Here is a list of stamp sets used:
1. Colliope
2. Shescript
3. Vintage Era Background Kit
4. Holly Hocks
5. Purely Entwined
6. Pixie Sprigs
7. Wild poppy silhouette

Don't forget to leave comments for your chance to win 25 random stamps from Unity.  Until tomorrow my friends...my final day of Growing in Unity.

Growing in Unity, Day #3, Today only happens once...let's make it amazing

Hey there fabulous Unity peeps!  I am now in the middle of GIU.  These past few days have been incredible.  Thanks so much for all the lovely comments...I appreciate each and every one.  Continue to leave comments on my blog for your chance to win 25 random stamps from Unity Stamp Co.

Today I am sharing an inspirational piece.  Make sure you return tomorrow...I am sharing my first ever art journal page.  For today's piece,  I chose a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" wood canvas.  I applied gesso first.  Then I sponged acqua dolce and squid ink gelatos.  I left the middle untouched to accommodate the sentiment which is from, Loving Today.  The butterflies are also from the same set.  Flower is from, Let it Go and Focus.  Shout out to Angeline Choo, Unity Design Team member, for the idea of using sequins to create a border.  Fabulous idea!  Here are the pics...until tomorrow friends.

Growing in Unity Day #2, Look Up and Get Lost

Happy Tuesday Unity peeps!  Thanks for stopping by again.  I appreciate all the lovely comments from yesterday.  In yesterday's post I mentioned that the two winners would be announced on Sunday, January 17.  Actually, they will be announced some time next week.  So just keep checking.  For those of you new to Growing in Unity, all you have to do is visit my blog each day this week and leave a comment on my posts for a chance to win 25 random stamps from Unity...fabulous, right? Uh Huh!  I will be posting creations made with Unity stamps all week.

Today's card features both stamps from, Get Lost in the Stars by Jake Wanger.  I just love this sentiment.  Sometimes I find myself dreaming and I get lost.  This is definitely a good thing.  I encourage you to look up and get lost as well.

Until tomorrow my friends...keep crafting in peace and love.

Can You Case It, #102, A Sketch Challenge

Here is the sketch for this week's challenge at Can You Case It!

I decided to create a birthday card for this challenge.  Here it is.

The cupcake stamp is from Unity Stamp Co., called Butterfly Birthday Cupcake.  Celebrate and banner stamps are from the jubilee stamp set by the girls' paperie.  Frosting was created using tattered rose distress ink (Ranger) with my Wink of Stella brush.  The butterfly was colored with squeezed lemonade distress ink (Ranger) and my Wink of Stella brush.  The cupcake, a banner, and celebrate were all stamped in Coastal Cabana (Stampin' Up).  The other banners were stamped in squeezed lemonade and picked raspberry (Ranger).  Pattern paper is from a paper pad (Crate Paper).

Thanks for stopping by...until next week!
