Friends of Unity Blog Hoppers, June 2020, Wings

Hello friends! Welcome back to our monthly hop! I am so excited for this hop because the cue involves wings. If anyone knows me well, they know I love butterfly stamps. I think I have enough to last a lifetime. I also love feather stamps. Anywhoo, check out this amazing cue:

No photo description available.

So cool, right?

Here is my card:

I fell in love with this mixed media journal page I discovered on Pinterest. I thought something  similar would also look amazing on a card. To create this card, I first stamped the hollyhocks from the Donna Downey/Unity Hollyhocks set. I  then stamped a portion of She Script right on top of the flowers. This She Script stamp is from Christy Tomlinson and Unity. I could not find it on the Unity website, so I'm guessing it has been retired or discontinued. Using my finger, I then rubbed silver metallic ink randomly over the stamped image. I then took a brush and added a blue dimensional  paint by Art Anthology. I then applied crackle paste in a couple of spots. I applied a thin layer, but you can still see the crackling somewhat in my pictures. The butterfly is from the Unity April 2017 Kit of the Month, be my bird. I stamped and then cut it out. Again using my finger, I rubbed silver and gold metallic ink on different parts of the butterfly. I then applied blue dimensional paints with a brush. I then used my finger again to add gold metallic ink randomly on the card. After everything dried I used pop dots on the butterfly and placed it over some Prima wax cord.

I really love how this card came out. I think I will use this design on a future journal page. I will share once I have it finished.

Well, that's all I have today. Please keep moving through the hop and check out all the amazing inspiration from my lovely friends. And remember, we love reading all of your comments on all of our posts.

Growing in Unity Week, Day 5

Welcome back my friends! This post is going up later than expected. My entire sleep pattern has been off since this pandemic began. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. I can't believe today is my final day of Growing in Unity. Thanks Unity for this amazing opportunity and thanks friends for visiting, and leaving comments filled with love and encouraging words. I appreciate each and every one of you. Today I am sharing a card. If you remember from my bio, I love going to the beach. It is definitely my happy place. I thought it would be fitting to share one of my favorite beach theme stamps from Unity. I fell in love with this Phyllis Harris stamp when it first came out and I'm embarrassed to say that this is my first time using it. I only used two stamp sets for this creation, The beach scene is from the Phyllis Harris & Unity set realize and the sentiment is from the Unity January 2018 SMAK Kit called the ocean is calling.

I used acrylic paint, ink spray, water colors, and water soluble oil pastels to color the beach scene. I finished the card off with ephemera, twine, and a metal charm. Be sure to leave a comment for your last chance to be eligible for free stamps from Unity. I can't wait to see who the winners are. Have a wonderful weekend. I hope to see all of you again soon! The ocean is calling and I must go for now.

Peace & Love everyone,
Dawn

Growing in Unity Week, Day 4

Good afternoon! I am so glad to have you here. Today I am sharing something extra special...a home decor piece with a vintage flair. I have had this 7Gypsies Receipt Holder for some time. I always knew I was going to create something inspirational with it, but like a lot of my projects, it was put on the back burner. Well, now that it's summer, I'm hoping to create more home decor pieces, so please stay tuned. But for today, I have this:

I have the hardest time photographing hanging things, so please excuse the photography. I used several kits for this piece. The first vintage lady comes from the Unity December 2016 SMAK Kit, living each day. The sentiment comes from the same kit. The second lady comes from the Unity November 2018 SMAK Kit, open your eyes. The sentiment comes from the Unity May 2014 Kit of the Month, Hey Girl. The third girl comes from the Unity set Damn Girl. And last but not least, this lovely lady comes from the Unity April 2017 SMAK Kit, sparkle every day. The sentiment comes from the Unity August 2015 SMAK  Kit, A little bit more. This project was completed with pretty pattern paper, washi, and metal accents. Here are a few more pics:

I can't believe I only have one more day. Thanks for all the love and support. It is greatly appreciated. And remember, don't leave without commenting. I want you to be eligible to win some free stamps from Unity. Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Peace & Love,
Dawn

Growing in Unity Week, Day 3

Good  morning! I hope everyone is  well! I can't believe I am halfway through my GIU week. I am having the best time. I hope I have been inspiring you in some kind of way. Be it, trying something new or looking at a particular stamp or stamps in a different way and deciding that you need them in your collection. I'm all about enabling. Today I am sharing another card with a coordinating envelope and a card that was awaiting a sentiment. I believe this is my first time using a Planner Gal by Angie Blom. Here  she is:

She  is from the Planner Girl Kit: In the Garden. I colored her with Prima water color pencils. I cut her out with a Gina Marie die. If you look at the top of the card I stamped two flowers with an overlaying sentiment. The two flowers are from Unity June 2015 Kit of the Month, She found joy. I used the same ink  on the second flower,  I just stamped it on a scrap piece of paper and stamped again on my card. The sentiment is  from the March 2020 Uniquely Unity Kit, Obsessed with your potential. I  also used the jars with botanicals from the same set on the envelope. You can see it here:

And as you can see, I used the Please Deliver To stamp again. Some of you will remember seeing this card on the Unity Show &  Tell  page. It wasn't complete. It needed a sentiment. I added a simple sentiment. I think this card will be a perfect retirement card. The vintage van comes from the Unity  February 2020 Kit of the Month, timeless. The sentiment comes from the February 2020 Whit Kit, Let your soul wander. This is a beautiful kit. Who am I kidding? All of Unity's kits are beautiful. I don't think anyone would argue with me on this.

See you again tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment to be eligible for free stamps from Unity.
Peace & Love,
Dawn

Growing in Unity Week, Day Two

Hello! I am so glad you are back! I promise...today's post is not as long as yesterday's. Today I  am sharing a card  with a coordinating envelope. I  hope you  like it.

Please forgive me, but I do not remember the name of this feather stamp. I looked and looked and was unable to find the packaging for it. I also looked on the Unity website, but was unsuccessful. I will have to ask Kelli. This is one of my favorite stamps. I love how raw it is. It definitely has an indigenous vibe. I colored this bloom of feathers with Faber-Castell colored pencils as well as Prismacolor colored  pencils from the landscape set. I kept the card design simple which is so hard for me to do. I wanted to add something, I have no idea what, but I finally convinced myself that nothing else was needed. And as a side note, I really, really love how the white pops on the kraft card stock.

This card was created on a yellow card base. I stamped the bloom of feathers and the sentiment on kraft card stock. This sentiment really speaks to me. So many times, I will buy a stamp set just for the sentiment(s) because it is so powerful and I feel the need  to share it, hoping that it speaks to someone else too.  This sentiment is from the February 2018 Layers of Life,  what you  really love. I added a couple of arrows to the top and bottom of the card. These stamps come from bravely change.

I created a  kraft envelope to accompany this beauty. I stamped a dream catcher on the right side. The dream catcher is from the July  2019 Kit  of the Month, be a lot. This is the first time I have ever used this gorgeous kit. I colored it using a couple of the pencils I used on the bloom of feathers. I also used  glitter pens from Kaisercraft to give it an ethereal feel. I also stamped, please deliver to, on the envelope. First time using this stamp too! I'm definitely going to use this more.

Well here are a few more pics. Don't forget to leave a comment to be eligible for a prize pack from Unity. See you again tomorrow. Peace & Love Always
