Sympathy Card and Altered Journal

In my prior post I mentioned that I was making a sympathy card and journal for a 13 y.o. girl I know, who loss her mother on Christmas Day.  I really like how both came out.  Both sentiments are from Unity Stamp Company February 2013 Kit of the Month and the butterfly is from their SMAK July 2012 kit.  I really love this butterfly; it will be used a lot.  My 13 y.o. son helped me pick out the paper for the card.  I used Distress Stickles on the butterfly.  I really wanted to use TH crackle paint, but the one jar I could find in my stash had dried out...but I think the Stickles look nice.  I am going to stamp the inside cover of the journal with an inspirational stamp.  I just haven't selected one yet.  I am also going to write a note to her on the first page.  OK, let me know what you think...I designed these with a 13 y.o. in mind.  I hope I succeeded.  Thanks for looking!

  1. Dawn, these are so wonderful and thoughtful. That sentiment conveys exactly the right heart-felt love and concern that is needed. This young gal will really appreciate the journal, too. The butterfly is gorgeous and is such an appropriate design for a memory journal and for a young teen. Lovely work.

  2. Your link from Unity brought me to your Etsy shop. I had to read a bit to find your blog. Your work is beautiful. I am sure the 13 year old girl will appreciate your card and journal during her time of sorrow. The butterfly is gorgeous.

  3. Beautiful card and journal! How terribly sad for her to lose her mom at such a young age when moms help and advice are needed most. The journal is a very thoughtful gift and I am sure it will get used a lot.
