Friends with Flair February 21, 2014

Hello Friends,

This is my entry for Unity Stamp Co.'s Friends with Flair for February 21, 2014.  I hope it'll post; I just tried and seems there is a problem with Linky Tools.  I only have 30 minutes left to post so this will be a quick blog post.  For this tag, all of the stamps are from their Delight in Beauty set.  I inked a manila tag with squeezed lemonade (Tim Holtz).  I then stamped a canvas ATC with cactus green (Staz ON).  The floral border was stamped with brushed corduroy (Tim Holtz).  Sentiment was stamped in picked raspberry (Tim Holtz)  Thanks for looking and have a wonderful week-end!

Unity Stamp Co. Friends with Flair Post; February 7, 2014

Hello friends,

I have been wanting to alter a picture frame with one of Unity's awesome sentiment stamps for some time now; mission accomplished!  Yey me!  Since Valentine's Day is in 6 days, I decided to go with this sentiment from the December 2013 KOM (Happy love Day).  I also decided not to go with traditional Valentine's Day colors so that this frame can be displayed year round.  I stamped the sentiment with Coastal Cabana (Stampin' Up).  Copics and Sharpies were also used to fill in the image.  Patterned paper and chipboard embellishments are My Minds Eye.  I really love how this frame turned out!  I can't wait to start the next one.  Stay tuned, but until then, here are the pics for this one.  Thanks for visiting and have an incredible week.  Dawn

Friends With Flair January 31, 2014

Hello Friends,
My mom's birthday is Monday, February 3.  She loves the color blue.  So I grabbed blue paper, blue markers, blue ink, blue pencils, and of course, my Unity stamps.  I went with the flowers from 'wishing you joy' and the sentiment from Maggie girl.  Patterned paper is American Crafts and My Minds Eye.  I inked the floral stamp with Paris Dusk then colored in the image with a Copic marker and a blue pencil.  I wanted to add ribbon to her card, but I did not have any that matched.  I am still content with how her card turned out.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful week-end!

Friends with Flair Jan. 3 2014

Hello all!  Happy New Year!  I am so looking forward to a crafty 2014!  Despite my enthusiasm for what the new year will bring, I am deeply saddened that one of my favorite craft stores, Archiver's, is going out of business.  Per the Archiver's team, the store has been struggling for several years.  I feel they gave their very best in keeping up with the ever changing trends in the world of paper crafting.  I would just like to wish everyone who works for Archiver's the very best of luck in all of their endeavors.  Thanks for a wonderful 14 years!  I am so going to miss going to your store and admiring all the new product that other stores did not offer.  What am I going to do when I need an Archiver's fix?

Here is a card I made for Valentine's Day that I posted on my website; I am also entering it into Unity's Friends with Flair.  Both the heart and sentiment are Unity.  Thanks for looking in advance!  I always look forward to the comments...they make my day more than you know!

Keep on crafting,
Dawn

Poppies on Black Journal

Hello!  Just 8 more days 'til Christmas!  Are you finished shopping? Or are you like me and still have plenty of shopping to do?  I also have to buy and prepare food for Christmas dinner.  AAHHH!  Dawn, you gotta get it in gear, girlfriend.

Well, nothing like a little crafting to destress.  Is this even a word?  I'm not sure, but I'm rolling with it!  I have had this black Moleskine journal lying around my craft room begging to be transformed.  I also have had these Poppy stamps by Donna Downey Studios and Unity Stamp Co. begging to be inked up.  The name of this stamp set is donna poppies.  The sentiment is also a Donna Downey and Unity Stamp Co. creation.  It is from the imperfection is beauty set.

Well, voila!  I grabbed some white chalk ink, my poppy stamps, and sentiment stamp and got busy!  I am so pleased with how this journal turned out.  I did use a heat gun to set the chalk ink to prevent smearing.  I also used a brown Spica pen to add some sparkle to the poppies.

Again, I ask myself, "Self, why haven't you used these poppy stamps before?  They are gorgeous!  I'm looking forward to using them on future projects, i.e. home decor projects.

As always, thanks for visiting my blog.  It means a great deal to me!

Keep spreading the joy of creating,

Dawn

A Foxy Winter Day Gift Bag

I love this fox rubber stamp from Unity Stamp Co. When I first saw it on their website, I knew I had to have it! Ha! I thought I was going to make cards with it (I'm sure I still will), but I decided to use it on a small kraft bag. Here are the steps in creating this shabbby style gift bag: I inked a section of cream colored cardstock with Antique Linen Distress Ink (Tim Holtz). I inked up the foxes from Foxy Christmas (Unity Stamp Co.) in Chocolate Chip ink (Stampin' Up). I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the label the foxes are on and adhered it to a journaling card (Authentique) I cut from a sheet of patterned paper. I cut out two more journaling cards (Authentique) and lined them up on the left side of the bag to look like one continuous strip of paper. I adhered a doily to the strip. I attached the foxes with foam adhesive. I also inked the entire doily with Antique Linen ink and the edge with Chocolate Chip ink. I made the tag from another journaling card (Authentique) and used a ticket punch on two ends. I attached the gift tag with gold sparkle hemp cord (Lawn Fawn). I hope you enjoyed looking at this creation as much as I enjoyed creating it! Thanks for looking! Peace and love, Dawn

Rustic Christmas Gift Card Holder

I found this darling, red, drawstring burlap bag at Michael's.  I decided to alter it as a gift card holder.  This was a fun, quick, simple project.  I pulled out this Tim Holtz ticket stamp and inked it with my new Tim Holtz markers.  A while back, I purchased this felt flower (Jolee's) from Michael's.  I also purchased a pack of mini wooden, Maya Road rulers, a little while back as well.

Initially, I thought I was going with just the ticket and flower; then I thought this bag needed a little something more.  So I dug through bags and drawers of embellishments and came across the wood rulers I never used.  I laid the ruler between the ticket and flower and said, "that'll work." (LOL)

This little bag can also be used as a gift bag for small items, i.e. jewelry.

Thanks for hanging out at my blog for a little bit.  Let me know what you think!

Much love and peace,

Dawn
